Why I Started Ignita Learning

Over the years I’ve seen so many talented teaching assistants make a real difference in classrooms. I’ve watched TAs patiently support children who find maths challenging, offer encouragement when a pupil is frustrated and adapt activities creatively to meet each child’s needs, all while managing the many demands of the classroom. Their dedication and skill are inspiring and it made me want to create a way to celebrate, support and enhance the incredible work they already do.

That’s why I started Ignita Learning: to provide practical, research-informed training and resources that empower teaching assistants, build confidence and help every child thrive.

Teaching assistants play such a pivotal role in children’s learning, yet their professional development is often limited compared to teachers. I wanted to create a space where TAs feel equipped, recognised and confident in their approaches. Ignita Learning exists to provide clear, practical strategies that can be used immediately, whether in lessons, small groups or intervention sessions. Our aim is not to change the way TAs work but to enhance and celebrate the amazing work they already do.

The name “Ignita” reflects the heart of the mission - igniting confidence, understanding and learning moments for both teaching assistants and the children they support. Everything we create is designed to be approachable, practical and effective. From bite-sized CPD sessions to hands-on resources, we focus on solutions that TAs can use straight away, helping them feel confident and capable in every classroom situation.

At Ignita Learning, our mission is simple: to empower support staff with evidence-based training and resources that are practical, visual and ready for the classroom. At its heart, it’s about igniting confidence - in TAs and in the children they work with.

Our values guide everything we do:

  • Support at the core: We design training and resources with TAs specifically in mind, offering encouragement and tools that make their day-to-day work easier. We believe teaching assistants deserve to feel supported as much as they support others.

  • Clarity and confidence: We break down tricky concepts into clear, manageable steps so TAs feel equipped and ready to support every child. Learning is easiest when it feels clear and achievable.

  • Igniting potential: We help TAs unlock the potential in every child, and in themselves, by giving them the tools to make learning engaging and meaningful. We believe that every TA has the potential to transform children’s learning. By equipping them with the right strategies, we help ignite those lightbulb moments that build confidence for both the teaching assistant and the children that they work with.

The work we do isn’t just about delivering CPD or resources, it’s about recognising the vital role of teaching assistants and creating opportunities for them to feel confident, valued and effective. Every webinar, training session or resource is designed to have an immediate, positive impact in the classroom. TAs can pick up new strategies and apply them straight away, creating moments of understanding and progress for the children they work with.
Ignita Learning is just beginning, but I truly believe small sparks can create something powerful. When TAs feel supported and confident, it transforms the learning experiences of the children in their care. Whether it’s building foundational skills, helping children reason and problem-solve, or using visual strategies to make maths accessible, our goal is to equip TAs with practical tools that make a real difference.
